POSITION SUMMARY:
The Childcare Coordinator supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This full-time position supports the School Age team by ensuring the health and safety of all children at all YMCA school-age locations, while overseeing the creation and delivery of school-age activities. Positively engage with members and families to enhance their experience and their children’s growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Float between all school-age sites to assist with school age programming.
• Ensure the safety of all children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Assist with shift coverage as needed at the Downtown Little Angels Early Learning Center.
• Supervise staff, including but not limited to ensuring adherence to work schedules, training new employees, monitoring staff performance, mentoring staff and ensuring staff follow policies and procedures.
• Assist Leads in creating curriculum activities that allow children's engagement and are interactive and motivational.
• Follow YMCA proposed schedule, including homework and snack times maximum physical activity, etc. Properly communicate with team to ensure snacks are picked up from the Y main location
• Maintain a positive attitude with children and staff at all times
• Supervise and interact with children in a variety of activities
• Arrive to work on time, in uniform.
• Assist in unpacking food orders as needed.
• Communicate as necessary with the Assistant Director of Childcare. Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
• Respectfully communicate with children, parents, school administrators, supervisors and other Y staff.
• Operating mini bus for School Age transportation as needed while following the bus driving checklist.
• Ensures that School Age staff are following procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 21 required.
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license for a minimum of 2 years
• Previous child educational experience preferred.
SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $18 an hour
Starting rate based on experience
SCHEDULE:
Full-time Monday-Friday
Rotating between morning, day and evening hours depending on operational needs
