Full-Time Project/Construction Superintendent

The Project/Construction Superintendent will oversee and manage daily operations on our construction sites. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and a strong drive to contribute to a dynamic team, manage high-profile projects, and ensure timely, on-budget project completion with the highest standard of excellence.

As a Construction Superintendent, you will collaborate with the project team including project managers, designers, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Your leadership will be key in driving productivity and maintaining the schedule and budget, while ensuring all work is compliant with local regulations and company policies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, plans, specifications, and project completion on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Supervise subcontractors, workers, and daily operations on-site.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and OSHA regulations are followed.
  • Monitor and track progress, identify any delays or obstacles, and implement solutions.
  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure quality control and address any issues or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and schedule deliveries, equipment, and material resources.
  • Manage project / job site security, organization, and safety.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for trade partners, suppliers, clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all involved parties, seeking win-win scenarios.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, work logs, and safety records.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Core Competencies

  • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent in a commercial or residential construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work proactively to foresee, prevent and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficient in construction software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings, documents, and specifications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the OSHA requirements needed to complete project tasks safely (OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in construction supervision or related roles.
  • Experience collaborating with various subcontractors and managing large-scale projects.

Further Requirements

  • The employee will be stationed at an active job site, working in indoor and outdoor conditions. Depending on the stage of construction, the employee will occasionally face extreme temperatures, high noise levels, airborne particles, and the presence of construction equipment. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear is mandatory in certain situations to ensure safety.
  • This is an exempt, full-time position. The typical workday will range from 8 to 12 hours, Monday through Friday. A normal work week consists of an average of 50 hours. Evening or weekend work may be required depending on project demands.
  • The Field Superintendent must have the stamina and physical capability to visit and monitor job sites regularly.

Key physical requirements include the ability to:

  • Navigate uneven terrain and obstacles. Sit, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
  • Use hands for gripping, pulling, and reaching. The employee must be capable of lifting and pulling objects up to 100 lbs. Additionally, a portion of the workday will involve office tasks.
  • Drive a vehicle and operate construction equipment as needed.
