About US: VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is company number 99 in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Operations are from a state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The VDL Industries facility consists of the following work centers: laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG/TIG), electronic assembly/general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, storage opportunities, and Quality Control. VDL Industries utilizes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.
Job Summary
A CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to perform various machining tasks such as turning, facing, threading, drilling, and grooving. They translate blueprints and mechanical drawings into computer commands, ensuring precise and accurate production of parts. The role involves inspecting and measuring finished products to meet quality standards, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the machining process. Proficiency in operating CNC machinery, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are essential for this position, which is typically found in manufacturing environments.
Education and Experience
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Journeyman–level experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance
- Requires previous manufacturing experience
Responsibilities:
- Setup and Operation: Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine machining operations.
- Programming: Program CNC machines to perform specific tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure they meet required standards.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other machinists and team members to solve production issues and improve processes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming, machine setup, and operation.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to produce parts with high precision and accuracy.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address machine and production issues.
