VDL USA is responsible for the sales and service of VDL packaging equipment and value-added logistics for numerous VDL companies in North America. We are looking for an eager International Service Technician with a positive ‘can do’ attitude to strengthen our team. The ideal candidate will be required to travel extensively throughout the Americas while working closely with our regional office located in Richmond, Virginia. At a minimum we expect a fundamental grasp of mechatronics accompanied with some relevant experience however additional training will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Supply service and customer support during field visits or jobs
· Assist and/or lead on-site installations, repairs, and maintenance
· Diagnose electrical or mechanical errors and determine appropriate solutions
· Produce prompt & detailed service reports
· Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings
· Follow all company procedures and protocols
· Maintain & build positive relationships with customers
· Document best practices and share with the team
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed
Experience and Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years of proven experience with the maintenance & repair of automated production machinery
· Advanced grasp of Windows operating systems including troubleshooting, third party software installation & working knowledge of network architecture.
· Available to work alternative schedules including weekends and on-call hours
· Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
· Customer driven focus
· Ability to travel up to 75%, including international travel
· Excellent verbal & written skills
· Ability to convey concise technical diagnosis remotely
· Ability to read basic CAD designs, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
· High school diploma or GED
· Advanced degree or certification in electrical and/or mechanical engineering preferred
· Must speak English; bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
· Valid driver’s license in good standing with the DMV is required
· Valid passport for potential international travel
