Velan Valves has been proud to be part of the Williston community since 1978. As part of Velan North America, we manufacture valves for military, nuclear, and specialized commercial applications. Regular work schedule is 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday. Full benefits at 60 days.
Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Scheduler will be responsible for optimizing the short-term production sequence, based on available machine and human resources. The Scheduler operates as part of a larger Planning team to ensure Velan meets its production goals.
Key Responsibilities :
· Based on the Production Master Program (PDP), create a production sequence using the APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) system over a period of approximately one to three months.
· Optimize the schedule according to the available resources and with the objective of respecting the PDP.
· Communicate issues when the schedule cannot align with the PDP
· In collaboration with the purchasing department, manage and monitor the subcontracting process in order to optimize production capacity in-house.
· Communicate regularly with the production team in order to identify and integrate solutions related to potential problems and optimize schedules.
· Makes recommendations to planners and operations stakeholders regarding human resources and machine requirements within one to three months; in line with the delivery schedule and resource fluctuations;
· Participate in the development of performance indicators (KPI) to measure, on the one hand, compliance with the schedule by the production, and on the other hand, compliance with the PDP.
· Participate in the development of a dashboard that integrates the capacity of bottleneck machines.
· Participates in the decision-making related to internal production or subcontracting.
· Develop and monitor subcontracting plans to meet the need for capacity or collaborate with Velan's North American plants for operational support.
· Together with the designated operations leader, participate in the weekly distribution of the workforce according to the work centers, over its horizon of one to three months;
Develop and maintain APS operational parameters for the plant.
Our Production Scheduler will work as part of a Planning team to ensure the smooth preparation and scheduling of our work. The Scheduler must be comfortable working as part of a team, receiving multiple and sometimes competing inputs into their work.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5 years' experience in production planning and inventory control, in a manufacturing setting
- Experience with ERP systems
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
