What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Compliance Director position at Vernon Child Development Center Foundation?
The Childcare Compliance Director supports the overall function of our childcare center by overseeing and supporting staff, licensing compliance, and operational support. This role focuses on ensuring daily operations align with state licensing regulations, internal policies, and best practices in early childhood education. The Compliance Director works closely with the Administrator to maintain a compliant, well-run, and professionally accountable environment for staff and children.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Support & Oversight
- Supervise, coach, and support teaching staff to ensure professional performance and compliance with center policies
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback focused on licensing and quality standards
- Address staff performance issues, documentation, and corrective actions in collaboration with the Administrator
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of staff
Licensing & Compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for state licensing compliance
- Ensure classrooms, documentation, and staff certifications meet all licensing requirements
- Conduct regular compliance audits and classroom walkthroughs
- Prepare for and participate in licensing visits and inspections
- Track staff training hours, credentials, background checks, and required documentation
Operational Support
- Monitor classroom ratios, schedules, and staffing coverage
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed consistently across classrooms
- Communicate with families during drop off and pick up times, as well as regular communication about their children
- Step into classrooms as needed to support teachers with children, as well as coverage for ratios as needed
- Answer phones, take messages, make note of schedule changes, and other office tasks
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years experience in early childhood education
- Strong knowledge of state childcare licensing regulations
- Qualified Lead Teacher
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Comfortable addressing performance issues and enforcing policies
- Professional, calm, and confident communication style
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in leadership
- Minimum Education: Associates Degree
