What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Center Director position at Wauwatosa Day Care & Learning Centers?
At Wauwatosa Day Care & Learning Centers our mission is to provide for the emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth and development of each child in partnership with the child's family. Our program strives to provide a center where parents may leave their children with the security of knowing that they will receive the best possible loving care by qualified infant-toddler, preschool and school-age teachers. Many times this is the first relationship with adults other than a family member and we strive to make it a happy one. We believe a good child care center should be an educationally enriching experience that supplements, not substitutes for the care given at home by the child's parents.
When you join our team as a Center Director you will:
- Be responsible for managing the daily operations of the child care center.
- Maintain DCF Licensing regulations and cultivate a positive relationship with state licensing authorities.
- Lead and support staff members (teachers, support staff, kitchen, etc.)
- Support staff through observation, mentoring and meetings.
- Lead center to maintain or achieve NAEYC Accreditation
- Facilitate staff meetings
- Participate in director meetings
- Provide orientation, training, support to staff
- Monitor schedules, overtime, vacation and time-off requests.
- Develop an effective team atmosphere with the staff members.
- Provide a model of excellence and leadership
- Provide tours, orientations and enrollment information to families interested in services.
- Coordinate transfers of children between classrooms.
- Maintain full enrollment in the classrooms, while following DCF regulations.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships between staff and parents.
- Assist in processing child care billing
- Maintain supply and equipment inventory
- Keep center neat and orderly
- Inform administrators of the need for replacement or repair of center items / equipment
Skills, Education and Experience:
- At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices
- Minimum of two years experience as a director of a child care center serving 50 children.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood (or equivalent) required
- Completed Administrators Credential, preferred not required
- Must meet state specific guidelines for the role
- Must have basic proficiency for computer use
- Have the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, bend, stoop, reach and grasp.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Management experience
- Knowledge and experience working with NAEYC standards preferred, not required.
- Ability to work well independently or as a member of a team
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Compensation:
Base pay starting at $40,000.00 per year. Depending on the applicants education and experience starting pay will be adjusted.
