The Verona Area School District is looking for a Human Resources Specialist. The Human Resources Specialist provides assistance to the Director of Human Resources, with emphasis on position allocation management, posting, hiring, onboarding, employee orientation, termination processing, job notifications, maintaining records, and supporting employment concerns. This position also will be responsible for specific state and federal reporting and other HR-related compliance tasks. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Position allocation management provides leaders with an up-to-date roster of employees and the FTE level.
- Provide confidential support to the Director of Human Resources to ensure that the department provides employees with appropriate and up-to-date information.
- Post job vacancies to inform potential applicants and assist the District in attracting quality candidates.
- Create/Maintain Employee Management (EM) Module within the HR/Payroll system.
- Assist/Maintain Task Processes through Task Manager Module.
- Preparing and issuing letters of intent/individual employment contracts, notice of assignments and non-renewal notices so that staffing decisions are made and communicated for the next year.
- On-board new hires so that new staff personnel files are up-to-date with required materials.
- Generate extra-curricular, coaching, limited-term employment, and special assignments so that staff and coaches receive correct contracts with current placement and compensation.
- Maintain database of staff so that employment information is accurate and reissued as needed.

Requires a minimum of two years of education beyond high school and 2-5 years experience, preferably with human resources, payroll and employee benefits, including basic knowledge of regulations related to employment.
Bilingual (Spanish) skills are prioritized
This position needs a detail-oriented, customer-focused person who can operate in a fast-paced environment. A candidate who has excellent computer and interpersonal skills and takes personal ownership of this role will excel in the role.
