Working in a growing District Energy Company, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for various finance and accounting duties on behalf of the Baltimore business unit. The ideal candidate will assist with the completion of the monthly closing, compilation of comprehensive monthly reporting package, and support of Financial Planning & Analysis efforts (i.e. budget and forecast). The position reports to the Director of Finance. This is a full-time exempt position located in Baltimore, MD.
The compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $110,000 annually plus a 10% bonus target.

Summary

The ideal candidate will assist with the completion of the monthly closing, compilation of comprehensive monthly reporting package, and support of Financial Planning & Analysis efforts (i.e. budget and forecast). Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end accrual workbooks for multiple business units, including Vicinity owned energy generating facilities and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts.
- Prepare monthly journal entries including monthly accruals, reclasses, and/or adjustment entries to ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Full income statement and balance sheet responsibilities.
- Analyze monthly results and provide variance analysis vs Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year.
- Track and monitor costs for various capital projects.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly billing activity.
- Assist with preparation of internal and external financial statements.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly, including itemizing amounts and saving proper support for review with Corporate Controller.
- Assist with annual external audit, budget, and forecasting processes.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Manage and communicate effectively with teams in various locations.
- Assist Director of Finance with drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documentation for all monthly tasks.
- Assist with internal / external reporting requirements along with Net Revenue Model (NRM) preparation for annual budgets.
- Assist with preparation of presentation of Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) with the senior leadership team.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA required.
- Minimum of 3 years of public accounting, big four or next tier firm.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Microsoft Excel.
- A high level of analytical skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and contribute productively to a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and task prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in fast-paced environment with key stakeholders in all levels of the organization.
- Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening as part of pre-employment screening process.
- A typical office environment includes heavy computer usage and sitting for extended periods of time. A fast-paced varied environment and occasional overtime are expected with this position.
- May be required to manage and assist physical inventory counts for multiple site locations.
