Summary
The Power Plant Assistant provides daily support to operations by maintaining the cleanliness of the plant and assists activities of the mechanical maintenance crew. This is a full-time hourly position located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This position requires UWUA Local 369 Union membership and reports to the Maintenance Manager. The hourly rate for this position is $39.87.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies.
2. Sweep, wash, wax, polish, dust or wipe walls, floors, desks, cabinets, lavatories, etc.
3. Keep designated areas adjacent to buildings, such as sidewalks and drives, free from ice, snow, water, or refuse.
4. Properly dispose of waste such as paper, cardboard, and garbage.
5. Separate recyclable materials for pickup.
6. Water, cut and trim grass and shrubbery.
7. Keep the immediate work area safe and neat; ensure the work area is safe and clean at the
completion of the workday.
8. Report any unusual conditions.
9. Utilize Maximo to perform all related PM’s & Workorders and Support
10. Under general supervision, alone or with the assistance of other employees perform basic maintenance functions as assigned.
11. Participate in various training programs to help support all maintenance functions
Qualifications and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Must possess basic computer literacy.
3. Must be able to work close to operating equipment safely and without interruption of service.
4. Experience working in an industrial or electrical generation location is preferred.
5. Have a good safety record
6. Must be willing to take and perform orders intelligently and to work harmoniously with other employees.
Working Conditions
Ability to perform moderately heavy physical work outdoors/indoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
