What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Account Coordinator position at Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Acts as a lead resource for front desk personnel and works with clinical office manager to maintain excellent customer service for patients both in clinical and financial operations.
- Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility using on-line technology and resolves issues with patients.
- Assists patients, referring physician and third-party carriers to resolve patient related billing and insurance issues.
- Informs patients of appropriate resources when financial assistance is needed; arranges payment plans per VCS policy.
- Assists patient information coordinators with end of day, verifying cash receipts and charge input for accuracy.
- Collects and follows up on accounts receivable as assigned.
- Supports front desk and clinic office manager in management of claim edits and resolution of billing errors.
- Identifies and provides training in computer and financial front desk functions.
- Assists manager with front desk staff operations (in staff shortage situations) including, but not limited to, filing, preparing charts, answer telephones, making appointments and obtaining pre-visit information.
- Recommends changes and/or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff to Business Office Manager and Clinic Office Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned
