MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.
Mountain Empire Community College invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach Nursing classes in various areas. We are seeking applicants available for clinical instruction for daytime and/or evenings and/or weekends. Salary is based on the academic preparation and work experience of the applicant and is determined according to the VCCS Adjunct Pay Schedule. Teaching experience in college-level courses. Experience with online learning. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology routinely into instructional and faculty responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the RN program; associate’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the LPN program..
- Must hold a current license or a multi-state licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse.
- Have had two years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse.
- Maintained documentation of professional competence through activities such as nursing practice, education programs, conferences. etc.
- For supervising the clinical practice of students, faculty must meet the licensure requirements of the specialty in which that practice occurs.
