Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Industrial Coatings Supervisor to oversee surface preparation and coating operations on industrial and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will manage field crews, ensure compliance with project specifications and safety regulations, and coordinate with project management to deliver high-quality coating work on schedule and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and supervise daily industrial coating activities including abrasive blasting, surface preparation, painting, and specialty coatings.
- Supervise and coordinate coating crews, foremen, and subcontractors as required.
- Ensure all surface preparation and coating applications meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable industry standards (SSPC / AMPP / ISO).
- Enforce strict compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor environmental conditions and coating applications to ensure proper film thickness, adhesion, and curing.
- Conduct routine site inspections and address quality issues, rework, or non-conformance promptly.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and access requirements with project management.
- Maintain daily reports, production logs, and inspection documentation.
- Interface with clients, inspectors, and other trades to resolve field issues and maintain schedule.
- Assist with planning, estimating, and job execution strategies as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- 5 years of experience in industrial coatings, including blasting and painting operations.
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of coating systems (epoxies, urethanes, zincs, linings).
- Familiarity with surface preparation standards (SSPC-SP1 through SP11).
- Ability to read and interpret coating specifications, drawings, and work scopes.
- Experience using inspection and quality control tools (DFT gauges, hygrometers, surface profile gauges).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; AMPP / NACE certifications a plus.
- Industrial and heavy commercial Coating and painting projects .
- Hands-on experience with abrasive blasting equipment and containment systems.
- Knowledge of environmental controls, hazardous coatings, and waste handling.
- Experience working in refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, or shutdown environments.
