The Production Planner oversees the full lifecycle of customer parts throughout the coating process. This includes forecasting, scheduling, vendor coordination, and shipping to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer orders and shipping documents to confirm part numbers, process requirements, and due dates
- Prepare job travelers and release parts to production
- Schedule jobs based on customer and sales priorities
- Create daily production plans and forecasts
- Ensure materials and information are ready before jobs start
- Monitor jobs through each production stage
- Communicate timelines to quality, shipping, and sales teams
- Notify shipping/logistics of upcoming outbound shipments
- Maintain customer Open Order Reports and update web portals
- Address and communicate any schedule issues internally and externally
- Share job status updates with customers
- Coordinate with sales on incoming forecasts
- Monitor in-house inventory and part receipts
- Work with outside vendors to ensure timely, quality processing
- Provide production expectations to supervisors and engineers
- Track monthly on-time delivery performance
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Collaborative, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Understanding of part/job workflow in a manufacturing setting
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Ability to work in both office and shop floor environments
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally travel (up to 10%)
- Physical presence required during normal business hours
- 30% office (climate-controlled), 70% shop floor (non-climate controlled)
