Field Technician

Washington County HCP Office
PART TIME/NO BENEFITS
$22.15 Hourly
HOURS: Varied, including some evenings and weekends.
Performs a variety of field oriented duties to implement the county-wide Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). The HCP and associated Incidental Take Permit allow for local development in exchange for a variety of conservation efforts aimed at protecting the federally threatened Mojave Desert tortoise.
Manages a 5-acre outdoor holding facility for Mojave Desert tortoises; assumes full responsibility for the maintenance of the facility and care of the captive and wild tortoises.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school
AND
- One (1) year technical training in land management, outdoor recreation, species conservation; or a related field
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications:
- Ability to operate 4-wheel drive vehicles, use power tools, wire stretchers, post pounder etc.
