The Cirrito Laboratory studies how neuronal activity and behaviors, such as stress and sleep, impact amyloid-beta and tau metabolism. This position will primarily perform histology to localize proteins and amyloid plaques as well as perform animal behavior studies.Position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments of Alzheimer’s disease including documentation and preparation of materials.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists investigator with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Performs histology and biochemical assays (e.g., immunohistochemistry, ELISAs, Western Blots).
- Performs animal behavior studies in a variety of transgenic mouse models or following drug treatment.
- Maintains critical lab stocks such as antibodies and compounds.
- Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience handling mice.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years.

R06-HSalary Range
$16.59 - $25.92 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Accommodation
