What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Indirect Tax Analyst position at Waste Connections?
We're looking for a Indirect Tax Senior Analyst to join our growing Tax team in the Woodlands, TX
Responsibilities
- Research sales and use tax regulations to communicate tax advice to business partners
- Prepare and review sales tax exemption certificates and supporting documentation
- Identify and research available tax savings opportunities and facilitate their implementation
- Manage the sales and use tax account registration process
- Manage indirect tax audits including communications with business partners and taxing authorities
- Manage the tax compliance calendar and project deadlines
- Prepare and review correspondence with business partners and taxing authorities
- Assist with the implementation of tax technology solutions
- Keep current on indirect tax legislation changes while communicating such updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- 3-5 years of corporate indirect tax experience, preferably in a multi-state sales and use tax environment
- Ability to clearly share complex tax matters with business partners, management, and tax authorities through verbal and written communication
- Collaborative team player with a strong service mindset
- Effective and efficient decision-making skills based on tax law and the ability to assess the tax implications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel
- Proficiency in tax research software (such as Thompson Reuters Checkpoint and/or Avalara)
