We are seeking a mission-focused, highly motivated Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to support elite Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) and Special Warfare Airmen at Gowen Field Air National Guard Base in Boise, Idaho. This position plays a critical role in optimizing human performance, reducing injury risk, and improving the readiness and resilience of tactical athletes.
This is not a clinical setting—it’s a unique opportunity to work with one of the military’s most demanding operator communities using tools, strategies, and standards comparable to Olympic and professional-level programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide prehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance optimization services to ~60–70 Airmen
- Conduct initial and ongoing physical assessments to monitor musculoskeletal health and performance
- Develop individualized and group training plans based on readiness goals and movement evaluations
- Support return-to-duty coordination with military medical staff
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation and report injury metrics and readiness trends
- Collaborate with unit leadership in weekly and monthly readiness briefings
- Create “Fly-Away” training programs for deployed or remote members
- Track and report data on injury trends, lost duty time, and program impact
- Participate in quarterly reporting and program improvement reviews
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Athletic Training (required)
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Idaho
- Minimum 4 years of experience as an ATC (preferably with elite, military, or tactical athletes)
- Current BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS – NSCA)
- Experience working in military, SOF, or tactical human performance programs
- Familiarity with software-based performance tracking tools (e.g., TeamBuildr, Fusionetics, etc.)
- Knowledge of DoD/AF medical documentation systems (e.g., AHLTA – not required, training provided)

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
