About the role:
WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Sr. Application Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role is responsible and accountable for developing the commercial and technical proposals for Utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. A successful candidate will have knowledge of , battery solutions, transformers, inverters, and related controls as well as other integrated equipment, from inception of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) to negotiation close out.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support Field Sales
- Communicates with Field Sales, Customer(s), engineering group and suppliers effectively.
- Ability to review requests for quotation to understand and interpret customers commercial and technical needs.
- Identify project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategies and competitive strengths/weaknesses.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, engineering, and project management to develop proposals that accurately reflect the capabilities of WEGs BESS team
- Develop technical solution to meet customer expectations. When necessary, engage directly with customers for clarification or communication of technical results.
- Generate technical and commercial proposals that accurately reflect WEGs technical solution, commercial capabilities, and value to the customer.
- Follows minimum pricing guidelines as established by management.
- Identifies opportunities to management when alternate pricing is needed.
- Organizes all quotation/order documentation electronically and hard copies (as needed).
- Provides technical and commercial training and mentoring to more junior team members and field sales as appropriate.
Develop Sales Tools
- Assist in developing RFP analytical tools for automated summarization of required features.
- Assist in developing proposal templates for standard offerings.
- Assist in developing sizing tools to allow automated BoM generation.
- Assist in managing database of issued proposals, vendor quotations, and competitive information.
Marketing
- Assist in the creation of required marketing collateral.
- Support industry events such as trade shows, webinars, and other events.
- Be part of a team gathering information on the competitive landscape of BESS in North America.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education:

Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field from a 4-year college or university is preferred, or equivalent related work experience.
Knowledge / training:
- Engineered sales or electrical engineering background required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, electrical drawings, symbols and nomenclature is required.
- Ability to manage multiple facets of complex projects simultaneously required.
- Ability to manage workflow to strict deadlines required.
- Experience generating electrical drawings (ex. single line diagram) and equipment layouts required.
- Knowledge of industry standard specifications such as UL/cUL, IEEE, NEC, NFPA.
- Knowledge of Renewable Energy market space and battery energy storage systems preferred.
- Self-motivated, positive, adaptive, and success-seeking mentality.
- Timely and well-organized communicator.
- Proficient in AutoCad or similar.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SalesForce is preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of relevant business experience is preferred.
- Experience with battery energy systems is favorable.
- Experience in a cross-cultural business environment is a plus.
