What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapist position at Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research?

Position Responsibilities 

Clinical Therapists will deliver care throughout Wellbridge and are responsible for the day-to-day psychotherapy and case management requirements of a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal program, rehabilitation program and reintegration program.  Carries out the Wellbridge vision, values and overall strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management and quality management.  Promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients.  Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses and other healthcare team members.

Clinical

  1. Provide individual and group therapy for all treatment programs for patients and their family members 
  2. Direct care delivery including but not limited to assessment of physiologic and psychosocial health status
  3. Delivers modality specific care including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, contingency management, and relapse prevention 
  4. Interviewing patients, establishing treatment goals and plan
  5. Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care and prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices
  6. Develop and maintain standard policies, procedures to ensure quality services and compliance with accrediting entities.        
  7. Maintain documentation, patient files, and statistics as required by departmental policies and funding sources.

Supervision and Support

  1. Model the Wellbridge philosophy of patient-centeredness, empowerment, and cultural proficiency and seek supervision from clinical staff.  
  2. Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching, and maintenance; patient and family expectations of care. 
  3. Recognizes the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and models sensitivity to all staff.

Collaborations

  1. Support a culture of high quality of care across organization.
  2. Work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and other nursing colleagues to develop personalized treatment plans.  
  3. Fields clinically-related telephone calls and responds.
  4. Support efforts of Wellbridge research team to implement program improvement.
  5. Manage and promote relationship with academic and research institutions to promote addiction research and training.
  6. Facilitates the effective provision of support services essential to team-based patient care.
  7. Provide crisis support to other clinicians and patients, as needed and in emergency situations.

Planning and Coordination

  1. Participate in regular clinical team meetings.
  2. Work closely with the clinical and advocacy teams to coordinate services to patients.
  3. Works with leadership team to counsel staff as needed.
  4. Makes recommendations for growth and development of organization. 
  5. Responds in a timely fashion to staff concerns and functions proactively to retain staff.
  6. Serve as a liaison and assist with community outreach/presentations.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. Master’s level degree in behavioral sciences or social work.
  2. Valid License as a Clinical Social Worker or related-fields (LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or equivalent) in the State of New York.
  3. BLS, ACLS preferred, other certifications, as required by department. 
  4. Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, JCAHO, etc. 
  5. Demonstrated communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skill.
  6. Proficiency with data management and electronic records.
  7. Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Clinical experience providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders for at least three (3) years. 
  2. Specific experience with stabilization and withdrawal management care and/or rehabilitation settings.
  3. Teaching experience.
  4. Experience with therapeutic groups (preferably addiction-oriented), therapeutic communities, and inpatient care.
  5. Experience evaluating program effectiveness and implementing data-driven process improvement.
  6. Knowledge of medications assisted recovery (MAR) and how behavioral interventions can support and improve outcomes for MAR.
  7. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary and/or research team.
