Job Description
The Procurement Forester plays a critical role in building relationships with landowners, loggers, and timber dealers to procure high-quality logs for the mill.
- Timber cruising on private and US Forest Service land
- Oversee timber harvesting operations
- Purchase delivered wood from suppliers
- Field visits to educate loggers on mill specifications
- Coordinate wood flow and log size with Procurement Manager
- Communicate with sister mills to meet enterprise needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Self-motivated planning and execution of responsibilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Well-honed procurement skills with strong supplier relationships
- Identify new sourcing opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field
- Minimum 3 years of procurement experience
- Local area knowledge and contractor connections
- Basic lumber mill operations knowledge
