Vocational Instructional Aide - Health Careers
Temporary Position
$17-$27 per hour
Schedule:
Up to 25 hours per week; flexible hours based on availability
Under general supervision, provide assistance with instructional tasks in a laboratory-equivalent setting.
- Assist students one-on-one or in groups in a lab setting
- Collect homework and daily assignments, check for accuracy and errors, make notes and record grades
- Assist instructor in classroom tasks
- Supervise groups of students in split lab settings while instructor works with another group
- Answer student questions during class and lab time
- Supervise lab sessions
- Proctor examinations
- Maintain records of student assignments, due dates, missing assignments (if any), and daily grades
- Set up displays and equipment for lab demonstrations
- Conduct lab demonstrations
- Prepare handouts, tests, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Modern office practices, procedures and equipment
- Record-keeping techniques
- Filing systems and procedures

- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary

- Learn specialized duties in vocational programs
- Learn to interpret rules, regulations, and policies on vocational programs and other programs
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Learn to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Maintain records and prepare reports
- Understand and follow oral and written directions
- Plan and organize work; meet schedules and timelines
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Lifting moderately heavy objects

- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally

- Hearing and speaking to exchange information and interview students
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and three years’ experience in the vocational field pertinent to the classes offered and in session required, such as health careers, administration of justice, automotive arts, the skilled trades, and culinary or hotel/restaurant/casino management.
