West Noble High School is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced High School Assistant Principal to join our team. The Assistant Principal is a vital member of the high school's administrative team, responsible for assisting the Principal in all aspects of school leadership, management, and operations. This role focuses on fostering a positive and productive learning environment, ensuring student success, upholding school policies, and supporting staff development. The Assistant Principal plays a key role in student discipline, attendance, curriculum implementation, and school-community relations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Management & Discipline:
- Administer and enforce the student code of conduct fairly and consistently.
- Investigate disciplinary incidents, conduct hearings, and assign appropriate consequences.
- Develop and implement proactive strategies for positive student behavior and conflict resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of disciplinary actions and interventions.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding student behavior and support needs.
- Oversee student attendance policies and interventions for truancy.
2. Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Support:
- Assist in the supervision and evaluation of instructional staff.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of the school's curriculum.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers (under the guidance of the Principal).
- Collaborate with department heads and teachers to analyze student performance data and identify areas for improvement.
- Promote innovative teaching practices and professional development opportunities for staff.
3. School Operations & Safety:
- Assist in the day-to-day management of school operations, including supervision of common areas (hallways, cafeteria, grounds).
- Develop and implement emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Supervise extracurricular activities, events, and athletic programs as assigned.
- Coordinate facility usage and ensure a safe and well-maintained school environment.
- Oversee bus duty, lunch duty, and other supervisory assignments.
4. Staff Support & Development:
- Provide support and guidance to teachers and other school staff.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff members.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive professional culture.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional learning communities.
5. Parent & Community Relations:
- Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and school initiatives.
- Address parent concerns and facilitate resolutions in a timely and professional manner.
- Represent the school at community events and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and community organizations.
6. Administrative Duties:
- Assist the Principal in budget development and resource allocation.
- Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
- Support the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field required.
- Certification: Valid state administrative certification required
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience/and or administrative experience at the high school level preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices in instruction, and student development.
- Proficiency in data analysis for instructional improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
- Proficiency with educational technology and administrative software.
- Bilingual preferred; the ability to understand and to make oneself understood in Spanish
Working Conditions:
- Primarily indoors in a school environment.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
- May involve evening and weekend work for school events and activities.
- Exposure to various student behaviors and emotional situations.
