JOB SUMMARY
This position requires an advanced knowledge of aircraft cabinets and interior installations. The job involves leading the modification, repair, refurbishment and fabrication of aircraft cabinets. The job includes varying amounts of parts replacement or repair, basic electrical system installation and general mechanical applications. Ability to evaluate and adjust on modifications essential. Training and maintaining work flow will be essential. Job duties will vary by type and scope, as designed by the Interior Supervisor. Will be required to work independently. This position is 1st shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Independently manage cabinet modifications and installations by communicating with Interior Supervisor and various other departmental staff, determining flow for completing assignments. Perform quality checks, supervise and assign personnel on daily activities
- Perform training, coaching and mentoring of team members to develop the job knowledge and performance of cabinet techs. Prepare and delivery annual evaluations of assigned team members.
- Assist with engineering and design techniques for major modification projects.
- Completely removes, repairs and modifies aircraft cabinets with little or no supervision.
- Without direction, completely performs minor modifications and performs major modifications with little or no supervision. Work independently on projects when required.
- Perform daily turn over sheets, work order processes and weight and balance data
- Attend incoming debriefs.
- Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling when required.
- Assist with training to ensure job knowledge and performance of interior cabinet personnel.
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education High school diploma or equivalent.
Supervisory training classes preferred.
Experience 5 - 6 years experience on aircraft cabinets preferred.
2 - 3 years heavy modification experience preferred.
1 - 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
Initiative Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace.
Able to process work with minimal supervision.
Responsibility Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Perform major modification work.
Contacts Other technicians in interior department or other departments.
Team Leader of team assigned, Interior Supervisor and Interior Manager.
Company sales representatives.
Customers or outside vendors.
Physical Requirements Able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, haz mat, etc.
Ability to communicate with employees, customers and vendors in a professional manner.
Ability to work with others in a professional manner.
Ability to read various reports and blue prints.
Ability to plan and organize procedures and operations.
Minimum Requirement
A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required
Supervision Will work under supervision of assigned Interior Supervisor and Interior Manager.
Will supervise team of technicians.
Work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area.
Work in aircraft on ramp on occasion.,
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
Sheet metal cutters, glue guns and metal benders.
Tugs, power carts and other engineer powered equipment.
Computer, copy machine, work order print outs, office equipment.
