Wheatley Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Montessori Teacher for the Primary classroom (ages 3-6). The ideal candidate embraces the Montessori Philosophy and brings warmth, leadership and a deep respect for our dynamic learning environment.
Duties
- Alignment with organizational mission and values
- Lead and manage a Montessori Primary classroom in accordance with AMI/AMS standards
- Passion for the Montessori pedagogy
- Prepare a thoughtful, engaging and orderly environment to support each child’s development
- Observe, access and support individual learning journeys through detailed record-keeping
- Collaborate with classroom assistants and school leadership to ensure a nurturing and cohesive experience
- Communicate regularly with classroom assistants and school leadership to ensure a nurturing and cohesive experience
- Communicate regularly with parents; fostering strong school-family partnerships
- Participate in staff meetings, school events and ongoing professional development
- Create and implement Montessori-aligned lesson plans tailored to the developmental needs of children
Requirements
- Montessori Certification from an accredited program (AMI or AMS) - Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field - Optional
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Montessori Primary classroom - Preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills
- A passion for working with young children and a commitment to their growth and development
