Wheatley Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Montessori Teacher for the Primary classroom (ages 3-6). The ideal candidate embraces the Montessori Philosophy and brings warmth, leadership and a deep respect for our dynamic learning environment.
Duties
General Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in establishing and maintaining a harmonious and respectful classroom atmosphere
- Help nurture and sustain the Montessori culture with attention to the emotional and educational needs of each student
- Observe children carefully and maintain records on their individual progress
- Provide gentle and consistent guidance throughout the day
- Attend weekly staff meetings to collaborate and align on classroom goals
- Actively participate in all school events, parent-teacher conferences and community engagements
Responsibilities to the Lead Teacher
- Assist with guiding students in the use and understanding of Montessori materials
- Follow through with daily duties as delegated by the lead teacher
- Stay informed on school policies; including student behavior, health concerns and/or materials maintenance
- Meet regularly with the lead teacher to discuss class dynamics and student progress
Responsibilities to the Classroom
- Contribute to keeping the classroom clean, orderly and fully prepared for learning
- Ensure the environment remains tidy and inviting throughout the day
Requirements
- Experience working in a Montessori environment (preferred but not required)
- Patience, flexibility and genuine love for working with young children
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
- A clear record through fingerprinting
- Physically capable to work with pre-school and Kindergarten aged children
- Committed to complete professional development credentials
