What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recruiter position at Whitaker Construction?
The Recruiter is responsible for full cycle recruiting. The Recruiter will develop recruitment strategies, employee sourcing plans, applicant experience, workforce planning and partnership with hiring managers and human resources. The Recruiter will focus on a variety of position placement including the Hispanic demographic, operators, laborers, project management and administrative roles. This position can be based in Brigham City, Utah or Midvale, Utah.
Whitaker Construction LLC, founded in 1953, has over 70 years of experience in the heavy civil and underground utility construction industry. Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.

- Interact with senior and mid-level management on a consistent basis to ensure overall priorities are correctly assessed and processes are understood.
- Work with hiring managers and HR business partners to develop recruiting strategies, identify current and future staffing needs, develop job descriptions and fill all positions in a timely manner.
- Facilitate applicants through each stage of the interview process and communicate with appropriate hiring managers on a regular basis regarding status of applicants.
- Develop creative sourcing methods to expand visibility and network for potential candidates in a highly competitive market and industry.
- Screen resumes for appropriate skills, credentials, experience, and knowledge and conduct in-person and phone screen interviews to determine skills and cultural fit.
- Assist with competency training for hiring managers on selection/interviewing best practices.
- Fully utilize the Applicant Tracking System while maintaining all candidate application records and manager/recruiter input.
- Build networks to source qualified candidates, including regional college relations activities such as coordination of campus visits, interview teams and follow-up interviews.
- Develop relationships with local Technical/Trade schools. Attend local career/job fairs to source talent and market Whitaker Construction as the employer of choice.
- Ensure compliance with all legal/governmental/regulatory requirements regarding the recruitment and selection process.
- Analyze and assess existing employment processes; make recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain appropriate metrics to identify wins and areas for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum of four (4) years recruitment and selection experience required.
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Organizational Development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be fluent in the Spanish language.
- Previous experience in the construction and heavy equipment field is preferred.
- Strong computer and database application skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to interact effectively and in a professional, tactful manner with candidates, employees, managers and senior leadership.
- Strong proficiency using applicant tracking software.
- Strong proficiency using applicant tracking systems (ATS) is required. Strong writing, oral communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with management, team members, vendors and internal and external customers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is largely a sedentary role; however, due to the nature of career fairs, there is walking, carrying and lifting items up to 25 pounds.
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
