Description

The primary purpose of your job position is to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor.

RESIDENT RIGHTS:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
  • Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect
  • Ensure that all nursing is provided in privacy
  • Knock before entering the residents room
  • Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the Nurse Supervisor/Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of residents property immediately to the Nurse Supervisor
  • Honor the residents refusal of treatments request. Report such requests to your supervisor
  • Communicate respectfully and appropriately, respect culture differences among residents and staff

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Receive and follow work schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our policies and procedures.
  • Assist in interviewing residents/guardians/sponsors and obtaining required admission information and signatures.
  • Assist in resident admission orientation program in accordance with out established policies and procedures.
  • Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate record of available beds, and an updated bed board.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.
  • Provide resident with admission information packet (E.G., resident rights, notice of privacy practices, admissions contact, etc.) Review, as necessary.
  • Obtain the residents/guardians signature on all required permits, releases, authorizations, etc.
  • Maintain a current listing of all residents and assigned room numbers. Provide copies of such listing to nursing service, management, government agencies, and personnel, as necessary and in accordance with our privacy rules.
  • Attach preadmission documentation to admission papers as appropriate.
  • Perform secretarial duties, as necessary.
  • Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and records, files, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of workday, etc.
  • Assist in developing procedures to ensure records are properly completed before filing.
  • Collect, assemble, and check admission papers. Forward to appropriate department.
  • Obtain the residents assigned room number. Place on all necessary admission documentation.
  • Forward completed medical records to the Health Information/Medical Records Department as appropriate.
  • Abstract information from records as authorized/required for insurance companies, Medicare, etc.
  • Notify nursing department when the resident estimated arrival time to the facility to assure that a member of the nursing staff will be there to greet new resident.
  • Maintain various registries as directed including register for admission and discharge of residents.
  • Review/explain the resident, and/or guardian, room rates, billing procedures, visitors/guests privileges, restrictions, resident care procedures, etc., as appropriate.
  • Review/explain to resident/guardian the policies and procedures on bed holds and cost.
  • Refer admission problems to proper authority, i.e., DON, Administrator, Social Services.
  • Maintain a resident waiting list in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Keep a current Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing admission/discharge requirements of Health Care Facilities.
  • Maintain daily and monthly census report as directed.
  • Assist the MDS Coordinator in scheduling 72-hour care conferences.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and assist business office personnel as required/directed.
  • Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of the Admissions Clerk
  • Agree not to disclose assigned User ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary to assure that the needs of the facility are met.
  • Attend and participate in facility mandatory in-service training programs as scheduled.

SAFETY AND SANITATION:

  • Monitor your assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure that established departmental policies and procedures, including dress codes, are followed by your oneself.
  • Ensure that the adequate supply of personal protective equipment is on hand and are readily available to personnel who performs procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Ensure that your units resident care rooms, treatment areas, etc., are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure that your assigned personnel follow established handwashing and hand hygiene technique in the administering of nursing care procedures.
  • Ensure that all personnel wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (i.e. back brace, mechanical lifts, proper lifting technique, etc.) when lifting or moving residents.
  • Have the knowledge of what is in the MSDS binders, report missing/illegible labels and MSDSs to the safety officer or other designated person.

Qualifications


  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 35 words per minute and use a 10-key calculator.
  • On-the-job training provided in admission procedures.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as must be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must be able to operate off, business, and accounting machines.
  • Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and the team concept
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of their individuals in the workplace
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other
  • Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the blood and/or body fluids
  • Must be willing to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Must perform all additional tasks assigned to you by supervisor
