What are the responsibilities and job description for the SO Crime Analyst position at Williamson County?
Reporting directly to an assigned Sergeant, responsible for performing analysis and research of crime data and trends to support the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) investigations.
- Creates, compiles and reviews statistical data related to crime in neighborhoods within Williamson County
- Collects and conducts data analysis to identify crime patterns, trends, and anticipated crime activity
- Oversees and implements quality control measures to accurately report crime data resulting in data manipulation, categorical review, and verification of large data sets
- Creates and compiles concise reports to aid with investigations, crime statistical reporting and other Sheriff Office reporting needs
- Assists with analyzing and testing new or existing procedures related to crime data tracking, reporting and systems
- Creates, reviews, and interprets crime bulletins and distributes to investigators and law enforcement officers
- Assists Law Enforcement with leads, identifying suspects, vehicles, and witness for open investigations
- Maintains and updates logs of crime tips and leads provided by the public and outside sources
- Performs tactical, strategic, and administrative examinations to aid investigators
- Performs and maintains upkeep of data tracking systems and digital record systems
- Reports monthly, quarterly, and yearly statistical and crime data to various local, state and federal agencies
- Coordinates and schedules update meetings with investigators and law enforcement
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned

- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

- Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
- Exposure to graphic material (photos, video, and audio)
- Regular travel between work sites as required
IRREGULAR HOURS
- Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
- May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

- Bachelor’s degree in a Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or Sociology or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Two (2) years of collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and disseminating accurate data related to crime patters and trends
- Must have a working knowledge of Criminal Intelligence Systems Operations – 28 CFR Part 23 as it relates to privacy and constitutional rights of individuals
- Knowledge of law enforcement investigation practices
- Knowledge of record management systems and Microsoft Suite
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within six (6) months of employment
- TLETS (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems) Certification
- TCIC (Texas Crime Information Center) Certification
- NCIC (National Crime Information Center) Certification
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid Texas driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Four (4) years of crime analyzing experience
