Laboratory Billing Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION: LABORATORY BILLING COORDINATOR

PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION:

The Laboratory Billing Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of laboratory accounts that require medical necessity. Medical necessity is defined as accepted health care services and supplies provided by health care entities, appropriate to the evaluation and treatment of a disease, condition, illness or injury and consistent with the applicable standard of care. The Laboratory Billing Coordinator will utilize the SSI Group Access Management Software for accounts that lack medical necessity.

The candidate needs to demonstrate the willingness to perform additional duties when requested and demonstrate the ability to self-start, self-direct and work independently.

The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a constructive working relationship with all physician offices, departments and personnel.

The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to investigate for correct information for billing a claim.

The candidate needs to demonstrate the knowledge of billing information for outpatient billing.

The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to work with the Business Office on laboratory billing issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree preferred ; Understanding laboratory terminology, knowledge of insurance payments. Minimum of one year work experience in a laboratory office/billing setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and other industry software applications.
