POSITION SUMMARY:

Winter Park is currently hiring for Snowcat Operator/ Terrain Park positions. Our snowcat operators work throughout the night preparing a world-class terrain park product for the enjoyment of our guests. These parks include a variety of features that provide an exceptional experience across a wide range of skill levels. The Terrain Park Snowcat Operator must work within a team environment and maintain a positive attitude throughout the season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Pre-operational checks of snowcats and other equipment
  • Participation in nightly team meeting
  • Receive nightly assignments from the Terrain Park Grooming Supervisor
  • Understand the nightly terrain park maintenance objectives
  • Safe operation of slope grooming equipment
  • Completion of assigned maintenance of terrain park features
  • Transport, building and installation of terrain park rails and snow features
  • Perform hand/rake work around terrain park features when needed
  • Assist the trail groomers in completing the nightly slope maintenance plan
  • Completion of other snowcat projects as assigned
  • Fueling of equipment using safe practices
  • Post-operational check of machines, clean off snow, clean cab
  • Maintaining accurate logs on equipment used
  • Communicating any equipment issues with the heavy equipment mechanics
  • Housekeeping of work areas/shop areas/equipment
  • Maintain a positive attitude throughout the season
  • Performance of other duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid, non-restricted motor vehicle driver's license
  • Minimum 2 years of snowcat experience, strongly preferred
  • Half pipe/ Zaugg experience, preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of terrain park terminology and practices
  • Ability to ski/ride terrain park features, preferred
  • Reliable transportation to/from work at hours outside normal business hours
  • Punctuality and ability to meet assigned work schedule
  • Ability to work night hours, weekends and holidays
  • First aid training, preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position is required to work evenings and/or overnight, weekends and holidays while in operation.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time while seated.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as shovels and basic mechanic's tools.
  • Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

hourly pay range: $22.50-$26.50 based on experience
