WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.
The World Bank Group Climate Department coordinates all aspects of climate business (both mitigation and adaptation) across the Bank Group. The Department is comprised of six units spanning the two main objectives of the WBG: policies & regulations and solutions & impact. The six units are:
• Partnerships for smart development & Cross-cutting expertise;
• Analytics and policy for adaptation and mitigation finance;
• Sustainable finance and transaction solutions;
• Strategy, learning, and operations;
• Carbon finance solutions;
• Market building with toolkits and products.
The Department is seeking two interns as part of the WBG Pioneers Program.
What you will be doing?
Interns will work within the Cross-Sector Expertise Unit, which collaborates with both public and private sector stakeholders to advance cutting-edge climate technologies. For the summer, interns will work in tandem on two projects focused on the private sector.
Internship objectives:
• Advanced Nuclear: Identify investable opportunities for IFC within the emerging nuclear energy supply chain, with a focus on venture capital prospects. Deliverable: a recommendation outlining priority sub-sectors, target markets, and private companies to engage.
• Methane Reduction Technologies: Support the development of our Wastewater and Biodigester business development tools by identifying, contacting, and analyzing relevant start-ups and technology providers.
