What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lighting & Stage Designer position at Worship Center?
The Lighting & Stage Designer is responsible for leading Worship Center lighting and stage environments, aligning with the mission of Worship Center and its ministries. This person ensures that professional, compelling visuals are presented personally and by a well-trained volunteer team. This person reports to the Production Director.
Schedule
Hourly position, averaging 16 hours/week. Requires flexible hours, including nights and weekends. One office day per week (Tuesdays preferred.)
Experience & Abilities
- Education: Minimum of 2-5 years of theatrical lighting experience and/or live production lighting experience.
- Experience/Abiliites:
- A proven ability to read and implement technical lighting documents.
- Working knowledge of lighting design software, including but not limited to Vectorworks, Photoshop, and Lightwright.
- Working knowledge of automated and conventional lighting components, Entertainment networks, and DMX protocols.
- Experience with GrandMA and media servers (Resolume) programming and operation.
- Skilled in basic rigging practices.
- A creative mind with keen attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure under tight deadlines. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
What This Person Does
- Working with the Production Director, establishes and maintains the standard of excellence for all Worship Center lighting and stage environments, providing direction and vision for current and future lighting and stage design needs.
- Designs and programs lights for all Worship Center events as needed.
- Designs and implements multiple stage designs and set changes throughout the year.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, developing, and scheduling production team lighting and stage build volunteers.
- Serve as light board operator as needed.
- Manages the Lighting/Stage expenses for the AVL fiscal budget.
- Works with AVL team members on all projects, stage changes, and events as scheduled.
- Leads projects, rentals, and events and performs other related duties as assigned by the Production Director.
