WSP is currently initiating a search for On-Call Emergency Management Specialists - Safety for any of our US offices, including Orlando, FL; Birmingham, AL; Tucson, AZ; Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; Washington, DC; Tallahassee, FL; Atlanta, GA; Honolulu, HI; Indianapolis, IN; New Orleans, LA; Kansas City, MO; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Oklahoma City, OK; Portland, OR; Exton, PA; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX. We are seeking individuals who are eager to assist during disasters on an on-call basis as a reservist employee, with the availability to deploy with little or no advance notice and for potentially long durations. This position is not a full-time position.

Your Impact

• Support Emergency Management team in servicing clients by responding to disasters nationwide and in US territories.
• Deploy to Emergency Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post-disaster.
• Perform a variety of duties including logistics, supply, cost/documentation and/or resource unit functions.
• Attend periodic training throughout the year to maintain deployment eligibility.
• Support Emergency Management Project Management functions.
• Responsible for inspecting, testing and evaluating workplace environments, and practices to ensure that they follow local, state and federal heal and safety guidelines and procedures.
• Prepare written reports on their findings.
• Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  
  
  

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• HS Diploma
• 7 years experience, including a 1 years experience on emergency management deployments, working in a Response field operations role.
• 3 years experience in a safety and heal related environment.
• Broad knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, methods and techniques.
• Skill in recognizing hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, developing measures to eliminate or control these conditions and effectively communicate the appropriate measures to resolve these problems is essential.
• A practical knowledge of the methods, techniques, and procedures applied by industrial hygienists and environmental and fire prevention engineers is frequently necessary.
• General knowledge of the EM385-1-1 methodology and familiar with EEP and SPCC.
• OSHA 30 General Industrial or OSHA 30 Construction Industry Safety certifications, and competency maintenance through 8 hours of formal training every year.
• Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques.
• Travel Required - Must be able to deploy to disaster area, with little or no advance notice and potentially for long durations, which could be up to a minimum of 30 days.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management (or related field).
• Asset Management and Supply Logistical Operational Experience.
• Previous experience working at Field Staging Areas or related environment.
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification (IS-100/102/200/700/800/815),
• 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification, which would also require being able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
• DOD AT1, First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
• EM385-1-1 certification
  
  
  

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Hourly Rate Regardless of Location: $25.00-30.00/hour.
