Job Description:
The employee will perform a combination of the following duties under direction of a physician; screen all patients for medical histories, recording vital signs, EKG. Recording X-Ray and or Sonogram in patient medical record charts. Prepare patient for examination and May or occasionally assist the physician as necessary during the examination. The Medical Assistant is responsible to maintaining Check-In/Sign in Sheet; confirm patient demographic and insurance information; to include verification of insurance; document appropriate information on the physician encounter form and or system electronic medical record; scheduling of patients for follow up as necessary; Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, phlebotomy. Ensure the appropriate disposal of contaminated supplies; prepare instruments for sterilization; responsible for stocking examination rooms; order supplies as necessary. Maintain communication with the various health agencies; immunization reporting; communicable diseases etc. to ensure patient information is updated.
1. Interview patient. Assist in the examination and treatment of patient
2. Operate equipment and perform EKG as indicated
3. Prepare patient medical record (chart) and or EMR with appropriate intake sheet
4. Gathers information, complaints, takes vital signs, performs various tests as ordered
5. Logging in patient medical record and or EMR Laboratory and Radiology results
6. Ability to perform directives as requested by the various physicians
7. Completing various forms for Medical; Physical; Disability; and Schools
8. Track inventory for supplies, vaccines etc.
9. Track temperature in refrigerator/freezer; complete appropriate forms
10. Setting up examination rooms for various primary and specialty care physicians
11. Moving equipment when or where necessary
12. Distribute appropriate educational material to patient as directed
13. Assisting in the authorization of prescription refills as directed by the physician
14. Recall or Rescheduling of patients as instructed
15. Trained in the area of Medical Assisting with certification from a Vocational/Technical or career program
16. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff
17. Securing and ensuring Confidentiality of sensitive information
18. Able to communicate effectively and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence
19. Registration, including insurance verification copay collection referral processing, authorization for radiology exam.
20. Intake of patients medical history prior to provider examination, complete time out form, point of care testing including nasal and throat swabs, CIR updating and STD reporting.
Requirements/Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year job-related experience
2. Certification and Training from a Vocational/Technical or Career Program preferred
3. Medical Assistant Certificate
4. Customer and service excellence skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to read, write and speak English.
5. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

(Alternate Saturdays) Shift: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Days: Mon - Fri Shift: 9:00am – 5:00pm
