Job Title: Kitchen Lead
Weekly Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00am to 2:00pm
Reports To: Food Service Director
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Lead is responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring timely preparation, service, and clean-up of breakfast and lunch. This role includes supervising kitchen operations, maintaining cleanliness, adhering to food safety standards, and managing inventory needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation & Service:

Prepare, cook, and serve breakfast and lunch according to the daily menu and schedule.

Ensure meals are high-quality, timely, and meet nutritional and safety guidelines.

Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout meal service.

Set-Up and Clean-Up:

Set up serving areas before each meal.
-
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces, and dining area after meals.

Properly store leftovers and label/date all food items.

Inventory & Ordering:

Track daily inventory and usage of food and supplies.

Place orders for necessary products to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Receive and check food deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality.

Communication & Problem Solving:

Notify the Food Service Manager promptly of any issues (equipment, food shortages, staffing, etc.).

Collaborate with other staff to resolve day-to-day operational problems.

Food Safety & Compliance:

Uphold all food safety standards and sanitation protocols.

Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of food items.

Maintain appropriate temperatures for hot and cold foods.

Leadership & Teamwork:

Serve as the point person in the kitchen during assigned hours.

Provide direction and support to kitchen aides or volunteers, if applicable.

Maintain a positive, efficient, and respectful kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a food service or kitchen lead role preferred.

Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures (ServSafe certification is required).

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Dependable, punctual, and proactive.
