What We Do:

We are advancing an exciting product pipeline to address indications with high unmet medical need, including epilepsy and depression. Our flagship azetukalner program represents the most advanced potassium channel modulator in clinical development for multiple indications. Building upon the positive results and compelling data from our Phase 2b “X-TOLE” study in adult patients with focal epilepsy, our Phase 3 epilepsy program includes multiple clinical trials evaluating azetukalner in patients with focal onset seizures and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. In 2024, we are planning to initiate a Phase 3 azetukalner program in major depressive disorder, based on topline data from our Phase 2 “X-NOVA” clinical trial. In addition, we are proud of the leading-edge science coming out of our discovery labs, including early-stage research programs that leverage our extensive ion channel expertise and drug discovery capabilities to identify validated drug targets and develop new product candidates. Backed by a strong balance sheet to support our growth plans, we continue to build a fully integrated, premier neuroscience company with strong discovery, clinical development, corporate, and commercial operations.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Manager, Internal Communications to join our team. This role supports and executes communication strategies to foster the internal mission and vision at Xenon by ensuring a strategic and consistent internal communications program that focuses on science and a culture that is built upon our shared Xenon CARES values to improve and enhance the lives of patients and employees. This individual will work with the Corporate Affairs team to develop, support and execute tactical implementation for day-to-day internal communications and related programming, including corporate events.

This position reports to the Associate Director, Corporate Communications & Events and will be located in Boston, MA, USA. The level of the position will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and industry experience. This role is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office and occasional in-person time outside of core business hours executing and/or attending company or sponsored events. Infrequent travel on an ad hoc basis may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster internal mission and vision at Xenon by ensuring strategic and consistent internal communications programs.
  • Contribute to annual and long-term internal communications strategies, objectives and initiatives.
  • Develop, propose and manage internal communications and corporate engagement initiatives using multi-channel communications, calendar planning, and event planning.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop internal content for the corporate intranet, companywide emails, town hall and department head meetings, department head summit, and other internal meetings and events.
  • Ensure employee communications channels are proactively maintained, including intranet content, town hall and department head meetings, companywide channels, community events, celebrations, etc.
  • Contribute to and manage forward-looking communications plans and systems for remote employees as well as future commercial and medical field teams.
  • Execute corporate events within the planned budget and manage project costs, logistics, and project deadlines, aligning project teams across office locations on objectives, deliverables, and timeline.
  • Proactively identify and propose solutions for challenges and/or process improvements within areas of responsibility.
  • Support initiatives driven by external communications, patient advocacy, and other corporate affairs functions, as needed.
  • Liaise with employee-led committees to coordinate event dates, logistics, event objectives and identify synergies across all company events and initiatives.
  • Develop and propose short- and long-term objectives for the function in accordance with overall Company strategies and plans.
  • Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Creative thinker with 5 experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations roles, with biopharmaceutical or life sciences experience preferred.
  • Strong communications skills, including written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal skills, with the ability to support translation and simplification of complex information.
  • Strong writing skills with experience in content development, generation, and amplification.
  • Experience in the biotech industry, drug development and/or commercialization.
  • Experience with employee engagement.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and ability to work independently under pressure with multiple, shifting priorities.
  • Ability to problem solve and comfortable operating in an agile environment; possess solid experience successfully navigating a growing organization.
  • Ability to build and retain knowledge of a company, business strategies & objectives to be able to develop support innovative concepts that will work in the organization.
  • Can effectively interact with all functions, teams, senior leadership, independent contributors, contractors, agency partners and vendors in gaining consensus, developing strategies, or executing a program.
  • Can build effective, trusted relationships, influence others with confidence, and has the ability to interact with all levels and functions within the organization.

The base salary range for this role is $102,448 to $126,904 USD; we will consider above this range for exceptional candidates. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, education and other qualifications, years of relevant experience, and internal equity.
