Responsibilities
The Parkview Family YMCA is seeking a Sports Camp Counselor who is enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children while leading fun and enriching activities for school-age children participating in summer day camp at Parkview Family YMCA.
- Connect: Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.
- Develop: Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.
- Lead: Execute day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for campers. Ensure that emergency plans are followed when necessary.
Requirements
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Reliable transportation to attend work.
- Good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.
- Warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with children and their parents.
- Able to fulfill all demands in spirit, mind, and body as a summer day camp counselor.
- Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Salary: Part-time $13.50-$14.00 hourly
Hours Available: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Employment is for 10 weeks. Training: May 25 & 26, 2023. Camp starts the week of May 29th, 2023 and ends August 4, 2023
