What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor, Speer YMCA position at YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg?
Join the new Speer Y team as we opened our brand new facility in December, 2023.
The Y is the nation's largest provider of swim lessons to increase skill and safety in and around water. Part-time position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.
Essential Functions
- Instruct students in swimming and/or exercise fundamentals.
- Ensures proper techniques and use of equipment while providing a safe environment for learning.
- Teach classes ranging from Parent/Child through Adult.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 16.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and be comfortable working with all ages and skill levels.
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and swim lesson instructor certifications are a plus.
- We also conduct in-house training. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques, to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
Starting rate: $15 commensurate with experience. Pre-employment drug screen and clear background check required.
Salary : $17 - $22
