What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher - El Camino position at YMCA OF SILICON VALLEY?
General Function:
A SACC Teacher supervises, plans and implements activities for a group of children. A Teacher must meet the California licensing requirements for a SACC teacher. A Teacher may also be responsible for the supervision of a Teacher Aide. The School Age Teacher I must meet the all the Title 22 licensing requirements for a fully qualified school age teacher.
Administrative duties include:
- Curriculum planning and implementation.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility
- Build positive relationships with parents and school personnel.
- Live a culture of passion for risk management and safety
Salary Range: $24 - $25.00/Hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with the SACC Center Director and other SACC Teachers to develop age appropriate activities for children.
- Plan and deliver on the YMCA curriculum framework including documenting detailed lesson plans.
- Visual supervision and care of children enrolled in the licensed program while maintaining ratios that meet requirements for Title 22.
- Meet and greet all children and parents daily.
- Help maintain a clean and well-organized facility.
- Assist in creating a warm, nurturing, and inviting program atmosphere.
- Attend all staff meetings and all training events.
- Participate in family events.
- Build confidence and self-esteem of the children in the program.
- Model appropriate and constructive discipline.
- Work as a team member of the child care center and the YMCA.
- Assist in marketing the program.
- Embrace and teach the YMCA values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring.
The physical demands of the position include:
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
