POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Engineer II provides basic custodial and maintenance duties with an emphasis on cleanliness and appearance of the facility. They will also assist maintenance personnel in day-to-day operations as assigned. This position includes working with other staff to solve issues of repairs/safety of facility and reporting any issues to safety violations to their primary supervisor and the Facility Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform daily custodial functions to ensure a clean, safe and fully operational facility
- Completes work orders as needed
- Upkeep of equipment and facility with active preventative and safe maintenance program
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, and maintains productive relationships with others
- Ability to implement solutions to challenging situations by analytical reasoning or research
- May be required to respond to alarm emergencies at any given time
- Travel to the Highland and San Bernardino branches using YMCA van to facilitate needed repairs
- Assist maintenance staff in day-to-day operations as assigned
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of environmental conditions including indoor and outdoor temperature ranges from 70 degrees to 100 degrees
- Follows the YMCA personnel policies, practices, salary administration plan, emergency procedures and risk management procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of landscaping hand tools, vacuums, hoses, and sprayers
- Basic knowledge of electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing and other trade skills that pertain to the facility
- Basis knowledge of facility requirements from governmental agencies (OSHA, etc.)
- Advanced custodial experience
- Good human relations skills
- Experience working with basic landscaping equipment
- Ability to proficiently work alone on assigned projects
- Must demonstrate knowledge for proper safety standards
- Current driver’s license and active auto insurance
- The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- The employee must be able to do maintenance work on roof, as needed
- Employee must be able to work on a ladder and at heights
- Trips to the San Bernardino YMCA, Highland YMCA, and hardware stores if necessary
