What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at York Building Products?
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of our manufacturing equipment. The machine operator ensures safe and efficient production of our product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Set up, operate, adjust and maintain block machine; batching, handling and packaging equipment from start to finish of the daily production cycle.
- Control and adjust machine settings, perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs.
- Achieve weekly and monthly production goals while adhering to strong quality standards.
- Inspection of product, both finished and pre-finished, and take required corrective actions as necessary.
- Communicate with supervisor and fellow team members on safety, quality, production, equipment and maintenance.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability and willingness to learn and be trained.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills a plus.
- Ability to operate a forklift a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with overtime during peak season.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.
- The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.
- Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
- Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting – 50 pounds maximum.
