Job Title: Shop Foreman

Position Summary: The Service Foreman will lead our technician team in overseeing the daily operations of our service department, ensuring the timely and efficient maintenance, repair, and servicing of medium/heavy duty trucks. Strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and commitment to excellence will be vital in maintaining optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for assigning jobs, checking on the status of repairs, ensuring technicians are working safely and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise: Must possess an extensive understanding of heavy-duty truck mechanics and diagnostic procedures, assisting technicians in troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring high-quality repairs and maintenance.
- Assign work to technicians based on their skill levels, workload and supervise their work to ensure proper and safe procedures are followed.
- Hold regular team meetings to share new information and address any concerns or issues in the shop.
- Quality Control: Conduct standards and control checks on completed work, ensuring repairs are performed to manufacturer and industry standards, and maintaining accurate records of services rendered.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce and promote a culture of safety within the shop, ensuring all activities and processes adhere to industry regulations and best practices.
- Problem Solving: Identify operational challenges, propose solutions, and collaborate with management to implement process improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Training and Development: Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing skill development for technicians, staying current with industry advancements and emerging technologies.
- Service Management: Coordinate and prioritize service requests, inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to schedules.
- Lead and manage a team of technicians, by providing coaching, training, and development.
- Cultivate and sustain the shop floor culture.
- Tool inventory management
- Handle all performance reviews for direct reports.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or heavy-duty truck mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within an automotive or heavy-duty truck service environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop the team.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude and communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety protocols.
- Proficient computer skills
- Valid Ohio driver's license and clean driving record.
- CDL preferred.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various diesel truck systems and components.
- Comprehensive knowledge of diesel engine technology, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other related components.
