Database Engineer (Hybrid)

Zachary Piper Solutions is hiring a Database Engineer to work in Columbia, Maryland. This individual will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data solutions within Microsoft Azure for a major healthcare company. The role focuses on developing scalable data pipelines, implementing data integration strategies, and ensuring secure, efficient data storage and processing across cloud environments.

Responsibilities for the Database Engineer:

• Design and implement data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks for ingestion, transformation, and loading of structured and unstructured data.
• Develop and maintain data lake architectures leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
• Optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency in cloud environments.
• Implement data governance and security standards using Azure Purview, encryption, and role-based access control.
  
  

Qualifications for the Database Engineer:

• 5 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.
• Knowledge of data security and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, encryption, data masking).
• Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and performance tuning in cloud environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  
  

Compensation for the Database Engineer:

• Salary range: $135,000 - $145,000 *Based on experience*
