What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer position at ZF Group?
About the Team: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementing, and maintaining of stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to equipment functionality. You will also be responsible for machine/equipment capabilities as they relate to safety, throughout, quality-improvement, monitoring, and correcting of issues related to the assembly/machining production lines.
What you can look forward to as a Manufacturing Engineer:
- Maintaining production line performance and related problem-solving activities.
- Planning, testing, and assisting in the implementation of preventative actions in the production lines in order to establish and verify capable and stable production processes in terms of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Responsible for non-critical changes in production processes in cooperation with product engineering, assembly engineering, and systems support where applicable.
- Investigate and recommend resolution to issues associated with non-conforming parts.
- Assist 8D investigations or similar corrective action processes derived from product and process audits, from internal quality investigations, or customer complaints.
- Develop and maintain reject and teardown procedures.
- Track PDCA items related to fallout and follow up to task owners on progress.
- Coordinate product/assembly engineering tasks or projects at the manufacturing plant level.
- Interact with supervisors, team leaders, and operators to validate that procedures are followed.
- Attend weekly support meetings shop floor management and NCC scrap cost reviews.
- Prepare and summarize reports, presentations, and data for both internal and external customers.
- Responsible for mainline quality including gauge R&Rs, calibrations, and repeatability checks.
- Perform related tasks as needed.
*Ability / willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
Your profile as a Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 0 - 2 years of field experience (including co-op and internships)
- Interpersonal and project management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD software
- Basic understanding of GD&T
- Ability to influence and engage at multiple levels within internal and external organizations
