Shipping Forklift Operator

Position Summary:

Zip-O-Laminators is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our Shipping & Receiving team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials through our production and shipping areas. As a forklift operator, you will be responsible for safely loading and unloading trucks, supporting the Finish End and Pre-Glue departments, and helping maintain the high-quality standards our customers expect.

This role requires prior experience handling long and heavy materials — specifically lumber up to 20 feet or longer — and an understanding of forklift counterbalance techniques to move these loads safely and efficiently. It's a great fit for someone who takes pride in their work, values operational precision, and works well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate forklift safely and efficiently

• Load and unload trucks with care to avoid product damage

• Handle long-length materials (20 feet) using proper counterbalance techniques

• Support production areas by moving materials and assisting with prep work

• Maintain accurate shipping documentation and organized work areas

• Perform daily safety checks and report any equipment issues

• Assist with cleanup and basic maintenance during downtime

• Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and team-focused work environment

• Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and company safety policies

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 100 lbs

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and manual handling of materials

• Repetitive use of hands and arms

• Must be able to work in a loud industrial environment (PPE provided)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Experience handling long lumber (20 ft or longer) required

• Strong understanding of forklift counterbalancing for long/heavy loads

• Prior forklift driving experience is required

• Forklift certification preferred

• Experience in shipping or lumber industry a plus

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Basic math and reading ability

• Willingness to work overtime or off-shift when needed

• 2- years' Experience or Longer Preferred
