Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various scientific disciplines and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves teaching students at different levels, developing engaging curriculum materials, and utilizing innovative teaching methods to enhance student understanding of complex scientific concepts.
Shift : Mon-Fri, 8 hours a day – 30 min unpaid lunch - 37.5 billable hours a week
School Location: Middle School
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Valid California teaching credential for Biology and Chemistry or Integrated Science w/ EL or CLAD authorization or an out of state equivalent
- Out of State Candidates without the EL or CLAD authorization will be considered if candidate agrees to apply for an emergency authorization and earn the authorization within a year of hiring
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with educational standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Teach a variety of science subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, ensuring clarity in complex topics such as Organic Chemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology.
- Utilize learning technology and laboratory experiences to facilitate hands-on learning opportunities for students.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to create an inclusive and productive learning environment.
- Assess student performance through standardized testing, projects, and classroom participation, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to design curriculum that integrates interdisciplinary approaches and promotes critical thinking skills.
- Engage in academic advising and mentoring for students, guiding them in their educational journey and future career paths.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of scientific principles across various disciplines including Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus, Algebra, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and more.
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design tailored for diverse learning styles.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior management and engagement among students.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with tutoring methods and special education practices is a plus.
- Ability to conduct scientific research and engage students in research laboratory experiences.
- Experience working with higher education teaching environments or private school settings is advantageous.
