Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Job Description 1. Audits registration information daily and ensures accuracy of data. 2. Coordinates registrations for specific divisions. 3. Serves as a resource person and role model for registration staff. 4. Handles escalated situations and processes those interactions requiring expert knowledge. 5. Monitors and coaches staff to ensure competency standards are met. 6. Mentors staff to assure consistency of department operations. 7. Recognizes and reports variance of work flow and daily operations. 8. Participates in interviewing and selection of new staff. 9. Provides input for performance evaluations. 10. Orients new staff. 11. Maintains current knowledge of insurance requirements, benefit provisions and pre-certification Requirements. Participates in quality improvement and peer review activities. 12. Maintains communication with nursing, physicians, family support services, and case management to facilitate the ADT process. 13. Promotes a cooperative team atmosphere both intra-department as well as inter-department in order to provide the best service to our patients/families. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1. Minimum two years of college required; BS, BA, or CHAA preferred. 2. Excellent communication/listening skills. 3. Customer centric approach to engaging with patients and families. 4. Ability to make quick accurate decisions on a daily basis. 5. Ability to handle stressful situations. 6. Proficient computer skills and aptitude. 7. Problem solving ability and able to handle multiple priorities. 8. FEMA certification required after hire (ED ONLY). 9. Minimum two years’ experience in pre-certification, registration, hospital, clinics, or physician office environment preferred. 10. Substantial interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nursing, other allied health professionals, law enforcement, and funeral directors. 11. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, third party billing and collections, and managed care requirements. 12. Thorough knowledge of registration/patient access, patient accounting, managed care and government payers, medical terminology and strong computer skills and systems proficiency desired. 13. Compassionate customer service skills with the ability to relate effectively with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other allied health and medical center personnel. 14. Bilingual language skills preferred. 15. Proficient computer skills and aptitude.
