Job Description Summary Independently coordinates and executes tasks in support of a programs, event, service or department. Serves as point-of-contact to internal and external parties providing both information and assuring service delivery. Must foresee and rectify complications preemptively and in real time. Student Accessibility ensures an accessible and inclusive experience for students with disabilities through identifying and coordinating accommodations designed to promote student success. Collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to coordinate and provide support services, resources and technology that enable full access and the opportunity for full participation in all University programs and activities. Maintains university compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA and other applicable laws. Positions may require specialized training. Job Description Conducts initial interviews with students with disabilities and provides advisement regarding various academic topics. Analyze psycho-educational test reports and/or medical documentation for the purpose of determining reasonable accommodations for each individual student. Act as an advocate for students with disabilities while responding to related inquires from faculty, staff, and students. Develops and presents information that builds awareness of disabilities within the campus community as well as participates in University and divisional committees. Develops and implements skill building programs to facilitate academic retention for students with disabilities. Identify and develop appropriate materials to meet the educational needs of individual students. Assist department and university community with conducting regular assessments of services and learning outcomes. Supervision: Oversee employment, training, and supervision of part-time sign language interpreters and transcribers who provide services for students with hearing loss. Additional Position Information: Education: Minimum Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling or related field required. Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC) preferred. Experience: Preferred a minimum of 1-year relevant experience, accommodating the needs of students with physical and sensory (including hearing and visual) disabilities including the interpretation of medical reports, and psycho-educational test results. Demonstrated knowledge of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Experience working directly with students with disabilities who are in a post-secondary setting is required. Must demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
