Job Description Summary Accountants and auditors prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, and provide solutions for businesses and individuals. They ensure that financial records are accurate, that financial and data risks are evaluated, and that taxes are paid properly. They also assess financial operations and work to help ensure that organizations run efficiently. Duties and responsibilities are performed at various levels within the defined title. Internal Audit supports the design, assessment, and effectuation of internal controls for compliance with institutional policies and external regulations, Performs operational and financial audits, special investigations and consultations to management to mitigate risk. Reports findings and recommendations to leadership and the board and university foundation. Job Description Job Summary: Perform financial, operational, compliance and investigative audits and other duties as assigned. Help develop the annual audit plan. Support the day-to-day operations of the Office. Supervise, train, and help evaluate/assign duties/review the work of staff and students. Essential Functions: 50%-75% Complete audit procedures for assigned projects including but not limited to reviewing and verifying purchase orders, vouchers for bills and salaries, receipts of funds, university procurement card purchases, and petty cash accounts. Conduct audits in compliance with university policies and rules and in compliance with laws and applicable state and federal regulatory standards and mandates. Analyze findings, formulate recommendations for improvements in university operations and systems, 25 - 50% Oversee Internal Audit students and perform various supervisory duties, including help hire and evaluate students, schedule and monitor work hours, review and provide feedback. Acquire and analyze data to plan and perform audits. 25% Assist the Chief Audit Executive in identifying risks and developing the annual audit plan to mitigate those risks. Update and develop audit programs, questionnaires, and other testing documents/templates for use by Internal Audit staff and students. Additional Position Information: Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. IT Audit experience preferred.
